Asuret Measure
According to research, 30-70 percent of IT projects fail in some important way -- they are late, over-budget, or do not deliver expected results. Even if the customer's experience is far better than average, such failures are highly disruptive and can have a significant financial impact on the company's capital budget. Most importantly, however, these failures are avoidable.
Many failures arise because IT execution does not fully reflect the organization's business strategies, goals, and priorities. Asuret helps technology buyers measure and examine the factors that increase the risk of IT implementation failure. The result: an objective, accurate mechanism to intercede in potential problems before they become full-blown failures. Asuret measurements are also a great way to prioritize projects within the portfolio on the basis of success likelihood.

| Leveraging Collective Intelligence |
Asuret's Measure service applies our sophisticated software and process to rapidly determine whether your project meets seven fundamental requirements of IT project success (see graph on right).
By leveraging stakeholders' collective intelligence, we diagnose the degrees to which your project has met the seven fundamental requirements of IT project success. We present the results in an action-oriented report.
Transparency and accountability. The metrics-based approach, based on tools, methods, and techniques developed by Asuret, yields the following benefits:
- Improved IT execution, as determined by higher project success rates and reduced disruption to the organization
- Greater accountability and transparency into IT investment decisions, based on quantitative analysis of non-technical business, cultural, and organizational factors
- Improved audit tracking of project-readiness conditions
- Higher operational IT efficiency resulting in greater ROI

| Quantitative Methodology |
Asuret’s techniques rapidly analyze seven key, business-oriented drivers of IT success or failure. Based on careful research and a well-developed framework, the approach examines almost 50 indicators to evaluate project vulnerabilities systematically. Our white paper, Seven Fundamentals for Achieving IT Project Success, describes these risk factors in detail. Asuret’s techniques harness stakeholders' collective intelligence (“wisdom of crowds”) to rapidly gain accurate, objective, and actionable insight into the project.
The engagement process takes about two weeks and involves data gathering, analysis, a consensus workshop, and reporting:
- During data collection, participants evaluate precisely worded statements related to the project, the organization, and related dynamics. The process is simple, unbiased, and requires under 30 minutes from each participant.
- To analyze the data, we use sophisticated tools and techniques that quickly reveal hidden causes of failure and identify obstacles to success. We also measure degrees of consensus among stakeholders regarding important project issues.
- Next, we conduct a consensus workshop to validate conclusions developed during the analysis. Importantly, we work with key stakeholders to gain consensus and define clear priorities and actions to maintain ROI.
- Within a few days following the workshop, we deliver a detailed, action-oriented report similar to the one attached to this email.

| Logistics |

The Measure service is a fixed-price, fixed-scope engagement. We ask you to select an early-stage project with 15-40 stakeholders and provide a location for the in-person consensus workshop. A customer executive sponsor should support this engagement, identify participants, provide contact information for the participants, and assist as necessary. The participants should represent key stakeholder groups, including IT, external consultants (if any), departmental managers affected by the IT project, senior management, and project management.
The process is illustrated in this diagram:
First, we tap into your own company's knowledge and experience by surveying project participants and stakeholders. Our proprietary tools make this process fast and easy. |
We analyze and filter results from the collaboration against our model of implementation and project management best-practices. We also look at key teamwork issues—lack of consensus, poor communication, uncertainty about goals and project ROI. |
After we map out your specific risk hotspots, we bring participants and stakeholders together for a half-day-long discussion of project vulnerabilities and appropriate risk reduction solutions. |
Finally, we prepare an in-depth report on our findings. We give you detailed data analysis, feedback from participants, and a top-level view of your implementation strengths and weaknesses. |
